Incontinence Advice From Our Customers

We know that no one knows more about incontinence than someone managing it or caring for a loved one. With this in mind, we asked our customers to share the best advice for others facing incontinence. We received tons of amazing feedback and compiled a list of the top 6 pieces of advice. Here they are:

#1: Ask questions

“Seek help and ask questions.”

You can never ask too many questions. Asking questions can help you better understand what you are dealing with, and how to better manage it.

To start, you should ask your doctor any medical questions. They’re equipped with the knowledge and tools to help you figure this out.

If you’re shopping for incontinence products at Healthwick, we’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Our team is well-informed about the products we carry and can help you gauge what your specific product needs may be. We also have an amazing sample program so you can try before you buy.

It’s also important for you to ask yourself questions about what you are experiencing so you can better determine the products you may need. Information is vital in assessing incontinence.

#2: Be patient

“It takes some research and time but you’ll figure it out and it won’t rule/ruin your life. It’ll be okay!”

You’re probably not going to know what to do right away, and you’re probably not going to fall in love with the first product you try; and that’s okay. Give yourself time to process and figure this out (after talking to your doctor, of course).

#3: Call Healthwick

“Call Healthwick and you will be helped to find the right product for your situation.”

Get in touch; our customer care team is here to help. If you don’t feel comfortable calling, you can live chat with us on our website. Our team members are knowledgeable about the varying products on our website and can help you determine which products you should try. We can also help you with processing orders, set you up with automatic deliveries, and arrange for free samples to be delivered right to your door.

Our website also features hundreds of customer product reviews. This allows you to see feedback from others who have used these products and their honest comments. Knowing what others experienced may be able to help you on your journey to finding the right solution.

Always remember: When in doubt, reach out! We are here to help.

#4: Don’t be embarrassed or ashamed

“Don’t be embarrassed, it is much more common than you think.”

Incontinence is a common issue; you should never let it damage your confidence. Up to 3.3 million Canadians are managing incontinence; you are not alone.

There are great tools and resources available to help you through this. Look for online groups, forums, and videos. These can be great ways to get support and more information.

#5: Talk to your doctor

“Don’t be afraid to talk to your doctor about it. You are not alone and this happens to lots of people for a variety of reasons.”

Your doctor is a great resource, they should be able to help you figure out a treatment plan and/or what your next steps should be.

Make sure to provide your doctor with as much information as possible; the more they know, the more they can help. You may want to keep a bladder or bowel diary to help you keep track of what is happening with your body.

#6: Try new products and samples

“Try the samples to see what works best for you. It’s horrible to buy a whole package of something to find that it doesn’t fit or feel comfortable.”

With so many products on the market, it only makes sense you’re going to want to try at least a few. Incontinence products are not a one-size-fits-all solution, and are designed based on different and specific needs.

It’s important to sample products before you buy. If you purchase a whole package of a diaper that doesn’t work for you, you’re stuck with an essentially useless product. At Healthwick, we offer Canada’s best incontinence free sample program. You can try pads, diapers, underwear, and more. Figuring out what works best for you is essential.

We hope this advice helps you and your loved ones to navigate managing incontinence. It is important to remember that you are not alone in this, and there is a solution for everyone. Healthwick is here to help you, contact us today.

I wish the transquility contour booster pads have adhesive strip down the back of them so they wouldn’t come forward and fell out your disposable pull up underware on to the floor
